Procurement Now More Strategic to Business

A survey by Kalido indicates perception of procurement as strategic to business has increased significantly in past two years.  The survey results are based on responses from 65 procurement professionals attending the eWorld Purchasing and Supply event in London (February 21-22, 2006).

Some of the results:

  • More than three-quarters (78%) of UK-based senior procurement managers and executives believe that their function is more strategic to the business than two years ago.
  • 36% indicated that obtaining a view of organization-wide spend with preferred suppliers takes a "long time," while 20% of all respondents noted that such analysis would either be difficult or impossible to achieve.
  • Sixty-two percent of the attendees surveyed at last week's eWorld Purchasing and Supply event in London cited the ability to obtain a single, consolidated view of procurement data across multiple systems and geographies as a top three priority.
  • 57% of respondents said they still rely on the manual aggregation of spreadsheets.
  • 17% of those surveyed said that they collect data from 15 or more different operational systems.

Data collection is a significant task in large organizations.   Kalido provides services to procurement for data collection and analysis.  Read the entire article:
