From the Detroit news, an article discussing technology as a way to reduce costs.   As you can see from the chart, smaller suppliers spend more proportionally than their large  counter parts. 

Another finding states that suppliers are not that interested in outsourcing their IT needs including offshore alternatives.  This is surprising considering the cost pressure in this industry.
